Do you have a clutter▼ problem? Is it hard to remember the last time you saw your bedroom floor? Maybe you need advice from Marie Kondo, Japan’s queen of tidying up. Kondo first shot to fame in 2011 when her book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, reached international bestseller status. In the book, she encouraged people to do one simple thing: keep only what gives you joy. Keeping things clean and orderly has been a lifelong passion for Kondo. In elementary school, rather than go to gym class, she wanted to organize the classroom bookshelf. One day, while she was tidying up the classroom, she had a breakthrough. She realized that cleaning is not about finding things to throw out. Rather, it is about finding things worth keeping. If you want to clean up your room, or your house, follow Kondo’s method. Organize your things one category at a time. Start with your clothes, then move on to your books, and so on. By tidying up, she says, you will discover the things that truly make you happy.
